BDU or “Battle Dress Uniform” is the uniform that was developed for use by soldiers in every branch of the United States Armed Forces. Although several attempts at use of camouflage were made the official BDU was adopted for use in 1981. Beginning is 2005 each branch of service adopted their own camouflage patterns for ones that are specific to their needs. Today the BDU is popular for use with hunters, paintballers, and outdoorsmen for the BDU’s camouflaging properties, durability and storage potential. The military style BDU is also used by federal and state, such as DEA, SWAT teams, as well as local chapters of veterans groups and sportsman associations.
